Teaching Writing to Students with Significant Disa

Target Audience:
Teachers who teach students with significant cognitive disabilities

Abstract:

Due to the overwhelming success of the Shared Writing Instructional Strategies (SWIM) workshop that was offered last year, RIDE is happy to announce that Ronda Layman and Christa Reida of DLM will be back this year to present this training again. If you missed it last year you don't want to miss it this year!

This workshop will focus on instructional strategies to help teachers teach writing to students with significant disabilities. All of the instructional strategies were developed and refined through the Shared Writing Instructional Model (SWIM) grant and are proven to be helpful during instruction. While this training will focus on students who qualify for the alternate assessment, it will be appropriate for any teacher who has students with significant disabilities.

The same material is covered each day so please register for one day only.

Participants are responsible for their own lunches and snacks and should bring their own laptops.

Dates: October 29, 2025 OR October 30, 2025
