3/16/2009  Textbook List Due to be Published  Derick Ariyam
Dear Colleagues, Thank you to the following districts for timely submission of textbook files for the publication of the 2009 - 2010 RIDE Approved Textbook List: Barrington, Coventry, Foster, Glocester, Johnston, Lincoln, Narragansett, Newport, New Shoreham, North Kingstown, North Providence, North Smithfield, Portsmouth, Scituate, Smithfield, South Kingstown, Narragansett, Westerly, West Warwick, Highlander, Bristol/Warren, Chariho, Exeter/West Greenwich, and Foster/Glocester. The list will be published on Monday March 23. Districts that have not submitted an updated file will have the prior two years lists published so that all districts and schools can begin planning for a textbook loan process that is adequate in time and smooth in operation. Minor corrections to this booklist will be accepted until June 15. If you have been provided with documentation of an error in the booklist you have submitted, and know that a correction is warranted, please make the edit to the eride file and make notification to becky.wright@ride.ri.gov that you have altered your eride file. The notice copied below was sent to all district data managers and superintendents on February 1st. This eRIDE module will allow you to submit your Textbook List collection to RIDE for public dissemination via our annual published Textbook list required by RIGL §16-23-2, §16-23-3. - - - - - - - - - Below this letter you will find instructions for the annual submission of the textbooks in use throughout your district for publication to the statewide RIDE Approved Textbook List. This is the second year that RIDE will be collecting this data through the eRIDE system. When using this system, you will have access to view each other's submissions and the correct formats, i.e., no special formatting, correct identifiers and coding, etc. All submissions are due to be entered into the system no later than March 7, 2009. At times, submissions are challenged by publishers and others. There will be a short window for districts to correct mistakes if documentation warrants an edit. Edits are tedious for all parties, so please be comprehensive in your filing of new books including the ISBN. Thank you for your cooperation with this work. We are all working to improve this system so that it is clear to districts, non-publics, students and parents. Please continue to contact me, Becky Wright (becky.wright@ride.ri.gov, 222-8404), about this process if you have any difficulties or helpful input as I am always willing to take your good ideas and work with others to transform them into better systems. Technical issues encountered with the application may be directed to the RIDE Helpdesk (support@ride.ri.net, 295-9200).
