6/28/2006  RIDE - district and school testing coordinators  Dr. Ken Gu - SEA
We have received a number of calls about the roles and responsibilities for district and school testing coordinators. Here is the response from the office of Assessment and Accountability. Every school and every district in Rhode Island is expected to have someone responsible for coordinating State Assessment details. In smaller schools, this person is often the principal (or the director for charter schools and outplacement facilities). The specific designations of School Testing Coordinator and District Testing Coordinator are local decisions. RIDE and our testing companies often need to communicate directly with persons at either the school or the district level when questions regarding testing arise. It is most expeditious to contact the designated person, if we know who that person is. Thus as a part of updating the eRIDE directory information, we are asking each school and each district to provide a name and contact information for the School Testing Coordinator and for the District Testing Coordinator. If a School Testing Coordinator’s name and contact information are not provided as part of the eRIDE directory update, RIDE will assume that the principal is providing this function. If a District Testing Coordinator’s name and contact information are not provided as part of the eRIDE directory update, RIDE will contact the Superintendent’s Office to obtain this information.
