2/21/2006  RIDE - search and download public schools data with FRED  Dr. Ken Gu - SEA
This is to ask you to preview the Department's latest Web-based information system - the Most Frequently Requested Education Data (FRED) system. We hope the information we provide through FRED is useful and timely for you to inform management, budget and policy decisions. To access the FRED system, from the Department’s Web Site (http://www.ride.ri.gov/), click on Education Data or use this link for direct access: http://www.ride.ri.gov/ed_data/fred.htm. To begin the search by keyword, click on Search on the FRED main-page. With FRED, you can search and download the most frequently requested education data, information which the Department has compiled for the purposes of State and Federal reporting and program implementation on student enrollment, attendance, mobility, graduates and dropouts, program status, school discipline, State assessment and AYP results for all districts and schools. You may use FRED to build a customized table and download the table in Microsoft Excel on enrollment, graduates, dropouts and graduation rates by student demographics for your district and school by school year. FRED also stores large amount of information the Department compiles routinely for the following publications: Report Cards – the NCLB mandated reports of student achievement and school accountability (http://www.ride.ri.gov/) Information Works – the Department’s annual report on the current state of publication education (http://www.ride.ri.gov/) KidsCount – National and State-by-State report on current status of children in the US (http://www.aecf.org/kidscount/) SchoolMatters.com – a service by Standard and Poors about how schools and school districts perform and the complex relationships between achievement and investment (http://www.schoolmatters.com/) For additional information about FRED or on how to search the FRED database, please call or email Marie Gariepy (222-8967, marie.gariepy@ride.ri.gov).
