10/4/2005  RIDE - important message about your LEP 2005-06 Census as related to State Testing  Dr. Ken Gu - SEA
The following message was just emailed to LEP Census coodinators and clerks in your district: --------------------------------------------------- This is to let you know that later in October, we will be extracting the following pieces of information DIRECTLY from your LEP Census and linking them to the new State testing records: a student's Active status in LEP (based on services being provided currently), monitoring status, and immigrant status. We will be analyzing the State test results based on the information you provide in your Census and assessing students' academic performance and hence your schools' AYP status. It is therefore very important that your Census records are up-todate at the time we extract the needed information (in the week of October 24th). Be sure to terminate a service record if a student has left your school/district. The district central office should have the most up-todate enrollment information for each student. Match your current active student listing against the current enrollment. If a student has been terminated for services last year, check and see if the student is being monitored this year. If so, indicate that in the Census. A student can be monitored for two consecutive years. Make sure the immigrant status is correct. Please contact Melissa Cabral or Maria Lindia for any questions related to the Census (222-8491) or contact me directly for any questions related to this message (Dr. Ken Gu, 222-8957). Thank you very much for your cooperation!
