Teacher attendance
  Is the total number of days that the regularly scheduled classroom teachers were absent because of illness, professional development or other reasons on instructional days in school year 2007-08.  Please do not include administrative or guidance staff, or absences for teachers on long term sick leave of 30 consecutive days or more.  The numbers are used by the Department to calculate your teacher attendance rate. You do not have to calculate the rate.
Full-time equivalency (FTE)
  Report part-time staff in terms of FTE.  FTE should be counted in tenths.  For example, if a teaching position is filled by two part-time people, each working a half day, count each person as 0.5.
Teacher grievances
  The total number of grievances in each of the following categories that were filed in school year 2007-08:
  • Insufficient materials
  • Too many students in class
  • Physical Environment
  • District-level Administrative Decisions
  • School-level Administrative Decisions
  • Other

Teacher mobility (please do not include substitute teachers)

  1. New/returned to school: a teacher who was new or returned to the school during the school year 2007-08; a continuing teacher from 06-07 should not be counted as someone who 'returned' to the school.
  2. New/returned to district: a teacher who was new or returned to the district during school year 2007-08; a continuing teacher from 06-07 should not be counted as someone who 'returned' to the district.
  3. Left school: a teacher who taught and left the school during the school year 2007-08;
  4. Left district: a teacher who taught and left the district during the school year 2007-08;

The numbers are used by the Department to calculate your teacher mobility rates. You do not have to calculate the rate.
School Mobility = 100*(# who was new/returned to school + # who left school)/FTE in school).
District Mobility = 100*(# who was new/returned to district + # who left district)/FTE in district).
NOTE: Teachers who left and then returned will be counted twice in this formula.
