Future Augmentative/Alternative Communications     

Target Audience:
Special Education Leaders, Speech and Language Service Providers, AAC and Assistive Technology Service Providers

Abstract:

To ensure a full understanding of needs and services relative to Augmentative and/or Alternative Communication Strategies (AAC), RIDE is hosting an action planning meeting to determine how to reach these four (draft) broad goals:

  • Students with limited/complex communication needs are identified and provided with AAC
  • Pre-K 12 educators competently and confidently use effective AAC and education strategies
  • Services by regional or state trainers, consultants, and technical assistance providers in AAC/AT and education are timely, high quality and skillfully provided
  • Education policy makers, funders, and state leadership system provide leadership and planning to improve systems and practices for AAC/AT in education

Lunch will be provided, this event and lunch is no cost to participants
